What is best for a child’s development-chess or video games?

One would definitely be biased towards playing a fast, gripping, bombastic video game with enthralling special effects and top-notch graphic designing. But that would the choice of an immature teen or a young adult indulging in it, during his\her free time. A normal video game however much exciting has numerous cons to it in comparison to a game of chess. From the simple reason that it is bound to spoil your eyesight to making you a dumb idiot confined between the four walls of your video game there are ample hints as to why you shouldn’t go buy that copy of the latest game your friend or neighbour is egging you to.

A. Hint no.1 would be though it improves your hand-eye coordination if played for too long could cause repetitive strain injury.

B. Some games are educational, and often have mythological connections and could be educational. Such as the media house Anime, has pulled a lot of stories from history, mythology and science. However it has to be mentioned that Anime has been far to often incorporate their games with adult-oriented content, which is not suitable for young viewers.

C. Last but not the least it hint no.3 would video games could, by which I mean the flickering lights and extreme special effects in it, give one epileptic seizures.
Chess on the other hand, is a game which gives you great strength of mind, enhances your patience to a great deal and makes you much brighter person with awesome thinking ability. Adding to that it boosts your self-confidence and self-esteem sharpening your abstract reasoning plus your memory. So why expose your self to such dangers and why not indulge yourself into something completely educational, which sharpens your mind, makes you, smart and popular-something like chess?
